Intake Manifold Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the front splash shield.
4. Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
5. Close the radiator drain cock.
6. Install the front splash shield.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Remove the supercharger. Refer to Supercharger Replacement.
9. Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to Thermostat Replacement in Cooling System.
10. Remove the EGR tube at the intake manifold. Refer to EGR Valve Replacement.





11. Disconnect the electrical connection at the temperature sensor.





12. Remove the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure

Important: In order to install the manifold, complete the following steps:
^ Use a suitable solvent in order to clean all oil from the cylinder block, the cylinder heads, and the intake manifold sealing surface.
^ Apply a GM approved sealer to the ends of the intake manifold seals.
^ Clean any adhesive compound from the intake manifold bolts and the bolt holes.
^ Apply thread locking compound GM P/N 12345739 or equivalent to the intake manifold bolts.





1. Install the lower intake manifold gasket.
2. Install the lower intake manifold.
3. Apply Threadlocker 272 GM P/N12345493 to the bolt threads.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





4. Install the intake manifold bolts including the two hidden bolts.
^ Tighten the intake manifold bolts to in sequence 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the electrical connector at the temperature sensor.





6. Install the EGR tube to the intake manifold. Refer to EGR Valve Replacement.
7. Install the thermostat housing. Refer to Thermostat Replacement in Cooling System.
8. Install the supercharger. Refer to Supercharger Replacement.
9. Refill the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
10. Connect the negative battery cable.
