Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct.
3. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement.
4. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe nuts to the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement.
5. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (H02S) wiring harness connector.
6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
7. Remove the three-way catalytic converter pipe from the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Powertrain Management.
8. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube from the right exhaust manifold. Refer to EGR Valve Replacement in Powertrain Management.





9. Remove the right exhaust manifold upper heat shield bolts.
10. Remove the right exhaust manifold upper heat shield.





11. Remove the right exhaust manifold lower heat shield bolts.
12. Remove the right exhaust manifold lower heat shield.





13. Remove the right exhaust manifold nuts.
14. Remove the right exhaust manifold.
15. Remove the right exhaust manifold gasket.
16. Clean the right exhaust manifold to the right cylinder head sealing surfaces.





17. Remove the heated oxygen sensor (H02S). Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) Replacement in Powertrain Management.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the heated oxygen sensor (H02S). Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) Replacement in Powertrain Management.





2. Install the right exhaust manifold gasket.
3. Install the right exhaust manifold.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the right exhaust manifold nuts.
Tighten the right exhaust manifold bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).





5. Install the right exhaust manifold lower heat shield.
6. Install the right exhaust manifold lower heat shield bolts.
Tighten the right exhaust manifold lower heat shield bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





7. Install the right exhaust manifold upper heat shield.
8. Install the right exhaust manifold upper heat shield bolts.
Tighten the right exhaust manifold upper heat shield bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





9. Install the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube to the right exhaust manifold. Refer to EGR Pipe Replacement in Powertrain Management.
10. Connect the three-way catalytic converter pipe to the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Powertrain Management.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Connect the heated oxygen sensor (H02S) wiring harness connector.
13. Install the exhaust crossover pipe nuts to the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement.
14. Install the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement.
15. Install the throttle body air inlet duct.
16. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
