The Ignition Key (Transponder)

The ignition key for PASS-Key(R) III equipped vehicles is a typical ignition key using a transponder pellet located in the plastic end of the key. This vehicle has the following 2 types of ignition keys:
^ The master key (black plastic end) may perform the following functions:
- Start the vehicle.
- Lock/unlock all of the door locks.
- Lock/unlock all of the storage compartments.
- Lock/unlock the rear compartment lid lock.
- Lock/unlock the rear compartment valet lock out switch, which is located on the IP.
^ The valet key (gray plastic end) may perform the following functions:
- Start the vehicle.
- Lock/unlock all of the door locks.
^ The valet key cannot perform the following functions:
- Lock/unlock all of the storage compartments.
- Lock/unlock the rear compartment lid lock.
- Lock/unlock the rear compartment valet lock out switch, which is located on the IP.

The ignition key transponder value determines if a valid ignition key is being used in order to start the vehicle. There are approximately 3 trillion different transponder values available. The transponder values may meet the following conditions:
^ Unreadable
^ Unable to service separately
