Cooling Fan Replacement - Electric

Removal Procedure

Caution: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.

Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.





1. Remove the Air Cleaner Assembly.

Important: To prevent possible shearing of the rubber bushings loosen the bolts on the engine struts before swinging the struts.

2. Remove the LH and RH engine mount strut braces. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement (Left) and Engine Mount Strut Replacement (Right) in Engine.
3. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connector.





4. Remove the cooling fan mounting bolts.
6. Remove the cooling fans.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the cooling fans.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the cooling fan mounting bolts.
Tighten the cooling fan mounting bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).





3. Connect the cooling fan electrical connector.
4. Install the LH and RH engine mount strut braces. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement (Left) and Engine Mount Strut Replacement (Right) in Engine.
5. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly.
6. Inspect the cooling fan motors for proper operation.
