Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable.
2. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct.
3. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield.
4. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe bolts to the right (rear) exhaust manifold.
5. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (H02S) wiring harness connector.
6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
7. Disconnect the three-way catalytic converter pipe from the right (rear) exhaust manifold.
8. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) tube from the rear exhaust manifold.





9. Remove the right (rear) exhaust manifold upper heat shield bolts.
10. Remove the right (rear) exhaust manifold upper heat shield.





11. Remove the right (rear) exhaust manifold lower heat shield bolts.
12. Remove the right (rear) exhaust manifold lower heat shield.





13. Remove the right (rear) exhaust manifold nuts.
14. Remove the right (rear) exhaust manifold.
15. Remove the right (rear) exhaust manifold gasket.
16. Clean the right (rear) exhaust manifold to the right (rear) cylinder head sealing surfaces.





17. If replacing the right (rear) exhaust manifold remove the heated oxygen sensor (H02S).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. If removed, install the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).





2. Install the right (rear) exhaust manifold gasket.
3. Install the right (rear) exhaust manifold.
4. Install the right (rear) exhaust manifold nuts.
^ Tighten the right (rear) exhaust manifold nuts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





5. Install the right (rear) exhaust manifold lower heat shield.
6. Install the right (rear) exhaust manifold lower heat shield bolts.
^ Tighten the right (rear) exhaust manifold lower heat shield bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





7. Install the right (rear) exhaust manifold upper heat shield.
8. Install the right (rear) exhaust manifold upper heat shield bolts.
^ Tighten the right (rear) exhaust manifold upper heat shield bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





9. Install the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) tube to the rear exhaust manifold.
10. Connect the three-way catalytic converter pipe to the right (rear) exhaust manifold.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Connect the heated oxygen sensor (H02S) wiring harness connector.
13. Install the exhaust crossover pipe bolts to the right (rear) exhaust manifold.
14. Install the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield.
15. Install the throttle body air inlet duct.
16. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
