General Informations

The (UTD) is standard equipment on this vehicle. The theft deterrent system operates separately from the personal automotive security system (PASS-Key II) which is also standard equipment on this vehicle. The system is designed to provide a warning in the event of force entry through the doors and trunk. When a forced entry is attempted, the alarm warning system trips, causing the horn to sound intermittently and the exterior lamps to flash in unison for approximately 3 minutes. A starter interlock feature is included in the PASS-Key II systems. The universal theft deterrent system does not affect engine starting.

The alarm is tripped by closing switches strategically located in the door latch assemblies and the luggage compartment lock cylinder tamper switch. If any door is opened or luggage compartment lock cylinder violated by rotating or moving in and out without the key, the controller activates the alarm.
