Remove or Disconnect

^ Tools Required:
- J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture.
- J 28467-94 Engine Support Fixture Adapter.
- J 28467-330 Engine Support Fixture Adapter.
- J 28467-350 Engine Support Fixture Adapter.
- J 37292-B Axle Seal Protector

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Air intake duct.
3. Cruise control cable at throttle body.
4. Shift control linkage.
- Mounting bracket at transaxle.
- Lever at manual shaft.
5. Wiring connectors at:
- Transaxle park/neutral position switch
- Transaxle electrical connector.
- Vehicle speed sensor.
6. Exhaust crossover pipe.
7. Heater hose retainer bracket.
8. Oxygen sensor connector.
9. Three top transaxle to engine bolts.





10. Install J 28467-A engine support fixture.

Important
- "Load" the support fixture by tightening the wing-nuts several turns to relieve tension on the frame and mounts.

CAUTION: To help avoid personal Injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle at the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling off of the hoist.

11. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
12. Both front tire and wheel assemblies.
13. Left steering rack retaining bolts.
14. Left front splash shield.
15. Right and left front ball joint nuts.
16. Separate the right and left control arms from steering knuckle.
17. Front lower air deflector.
18. Power steering line retaining brackets at frame.
19. Right side steering rack through bolt.
20. Suitably support frame with jack.








21. Left and right transaxle mount through bolts.
22. Frame assembly.





23. Flywheel cover.
24. Flywheel to converter bolts.

Important
- Mark flywheel to converter relationship to ensure proper reassembly.

25. Electrical connectors at starter.
26. Starter motor.
27. Electrical connector at speed sensor.
28. Left and right drive axles from transaxle.

Important
- Carefully guide output shaft past lip seal. Do not allow shaft splines to contact any portion of lip seal surface, otherwise damage to the seal will occur.

29. Support transaxle with jackstand, and adjust as needed throughout procedure.





30. Rear transaxle mount.
31. Right side spark plug wires from plugs.
32. Transaxle filler tube.
33. Right exhaust manifold.
34. Lower transaxle to engine bolts.
35. Transaxle cooler lines at transaxle.
36. Rear transaxle mount bracket.
37. Transaxle assembly.
