Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair









NOTE: When replacing the intermediate pipe service mufflers will be required.

REMOVAL
Remove or Disconnect the following components.
1. Support resonator and mufflers.
2. Exhaust hangers.
3. Cut pipe at resonator and mufflers using J 29800.
4. Intermediate pipe.

INSTALLATION
Install or Connect the following components.
1. Loose assemble muffler to intermediate pipe using a "U" bolt type clamp. Position clamp on drivers side muffler so nuts are toward the drivers side of vehicle, position clamp on passenger side muffler so nuts are toward passenger side of vehicle.
2. Loose assemble intermediate pipe to resonator using a "U" bolt type clamp. Position clamp on drivers side muffler so nuts are toward the drivers side of vehicle, position clamp on passenger side muffler so nuts are toward passenger side of vehicle.
3. Exhaust hangers.
4. Align system for proper clearances. Tighten pipe clamps, then tighten hanger fasteners.
^ Clamp nuts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
