Block Heater Installation

Cord Routing:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain coolant.
2. Water jacket plug from left bank of engine (rear plug). carefully tap it near its outer edge, causing it to rotate out of hole. Do not score the machined surface of the hole. Grasp with pliers and pull to remove.
Clean
^ Core plug hole, removing any burrs, compound, paint, or rough spots.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Apply a coat of Permatex� Thread Sealant with Teflon to the 0-ring and clean surface of plug opening.
2. Insert heater and push tight to block. Position element so that the connector pins are in the twelve o'clock position.
3. Tighten bolt until both locking wings draw tight against inner wall of engine block.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 2 N.m (17 lb. in.).
4. Heater cord assembly. Route cord along positive battery cable to the upper right side of engine compartment. Secure with tie straps
NOTICE: The heater cord must not touch the engine, hot pipes, manifold, or any moving parts.
5. Fill with coolant.
