Component Tests and General Diagnostics
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS1. Distinguish Keyless Entry System operation from the operation of the controlled circuits by checking each of the following systems individually:
^ Retained accessory power. (After ignition is turned OFF, does the radio work until a door is opened or 10 minutes elapses?) Refer to Retained Accessory Power. Accessory Delay Module
^ Power door locks from all door lock switches. Refer to Power Door Locks. Power Locks
^ Universal theft deterrent system, if equipped. Refer to Theft Deterrent System. Antitheft and Alarm Systems
^ Interior lamps; open any door to illuminate. Refer to Interior Lamps. Lighting and Horns
^ Trunk lid release from trunk lid release switch. Refer to Release Systems. Trunk / Liftgate
2. Check I/P1 Fuse in the RH Rear Power Distribution Center Fuse Block #1. If it is open, check for short to ground in CKT 40 (ORN).
3. Check for a poor connection at ground G302.
4. Before component replacement, check for poor terminal contact at component and harness connectors.
5. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
6. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. (Refer to Troubleshooting Procedures.) Diagnostic Aids
