CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) fluid level switch alerts the Electronic Brake/Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM) to a low brake fluid condition in the BPMV reservoir. The fluid level switch is located in the BPMV's reservoir. The fluid level switch is normally closed when the reservoir contains sufficient fluid. When fluid level is low, the switch opens, causing the EBCM/EBTCM to turn ON the ANTILOCK indicator.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
DTC C1273 sets when the EBCM/EBTCM detects a short to ground in the BPMV fluid level switch circuitry. These include: CKT 848, 849, 853, and 1659. DTC C1273 will also set if an open exists in CKT 1451.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
A malfunction DTC is stored, ABS is disabled and the ANTILOCK indicator lamp is turned ON.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ Conditions for the malfunction are no longer present and scan tool clear DTCs function is used.
^ 100 ignition switch key cycles have passed with no malfunctions detected.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Possible Causes:
- TCC/Antilock Switch circuit shorted to ground.
- BPMV Fluid Level Switch circuit shorted to ground.
- ABS Pump Motor Pressure Switch circuit shorted to ground.

It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully inspect wiring may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
