Oil Pan Replacement
TOOL REQUIRED^ J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable.
2. Remove the hood panel. See Body and Frame.
3. Remove the engine mount struts from the engine.
4. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bolts and set the compressor aside. See Heating and Air Conditioning.
5. Remove the right engine mount strut bracket from the engine.
6. Install Engine Support Fixture, Engine Support Fixture Adapter and Engine Support Adapter Leg.
7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
8. Remove the three way catalytic converter pipe from the right (rear) exhaust manifold. See Exhaust System.
9. Drain the engine oil.
10. Remove the oil level sensor wiring harness connection.
11. Remove the starter motor. See Starting and Charging.
12. Remove the transaxle brace from the oil pan. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
13. Remove the lower transaxle mount nuts. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
14. Remove the lower engine mount nuts.
15. Raise the engine using the engine support fixture in order to gain access for oil pan removal.
16. Remove the right (rear) oil pan side bolts. Use Torque Wrench Adapter.
17. Remove the left (front) oil pan side bolts.
18. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.
19. Remove the oil pan.
20. Remove the oil pan gasket.
21. Clean the oil pan and the engine block gasket surface.
INSTALLATION
1. Apply a small amount of sealer GM P/N 1234579 or equivalent on either side of the rear main bearing cap, where the seal surface on the cap meets the cylinder block. Press sealant into gap with putty knife.
2. Install the oil pan gasket.
3. Install the oil pan.
4. Install the oil pan retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the left (front) oil pan side bolts. Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the right (rear) oil pan side bolts. Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
7. Lower the engine using the engine support fixture.
8. Install the lower transaxle mount nuts. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
9. Install the lower engine mount nuts.
10. Install the transaxle brace to the oil pan. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
11. Install the starter motor. See Starting and Charging.
12. Install the oil level sensor wiring harness connection.
13. Install the three way catalytic converter pipe to the right (rear) exhaust manifold. See Exhaust System.
14. Lower the vehicle.
15. Remove Engine Support Fixture, Engine Support Fixture Adapter and Engine Support Adapter Leg.
16. Install the right engine mount strut bracket to the engine.
17. Install the A/C compressor. See Heating and Air Conditioning.
18. Install the engine mount struts to the engine.
19. Install the hood panel. See Body and Frame.
20. Fill the engine with oil.
21. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
