DTC IPC B1523 Gauge:

DTC IPC B1523 Gauge Switch Stuck/Shorted To Ground:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
When the switch is activated the 1328 circuit is grounded. The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) will sense ground on terminal A9 and will switch the DIC display to Gauges.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC:
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) IPC B1523 will set if the ignition is "ON" and the Gauge Switch is stuck or shorted to ground for greater than 60 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DCT SETS (BY IPC):
The IPC will disable the function of the stuck or shorted switch input for the remainder of that ignition cycle or until codes are cleared.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS:
Check for binding, sticking or broken switch controls. If OK, clear DTC. Check condition of switch. If DTC sets again, check for short circuit or replace switch.
