General Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe dual zone A/C system is a vacuum and electronically controlled heating, ventilating and air conditioning system. Both electronic and vacuum circuits determine air intake and discharge locations. Electronic circuits also control mode, A/C compressor clutch operation, fan operation and discharge air temperature.
The driver may select a desired interior temperature, fan speed and one of eight different modes of operation from the system control panel. One of these modes is a fully automatic dual zone mode. In this mode the system determines the appropriate air intake, discharge locations, fan speed, and discharge air temperature, according to the driver or passenger selected temperature and information provided by the system's network of sensors. The passenger, through the separate passenger side temperature control panel is able to significantly increase or decrease air discharge temperature on that side of the vehicle.
The dual zone A/C system utilizes a variable displacement orifice tube (VDOT) type refrigeration system.
