Oil Pick Up/Strainer: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Install the oil level sensor, located in the oil pan; after the oil pan is installed. The sensor may be damaged if the oil level sensor is installed first.

1. Remove the oil level sensor.
2. Remove the oil pan.





3. Remove the oil pump pipe and screen assembly attaching bolts.
4. Clean the following areas:
^ The screen and the housing with solvent and blow dry.
^ The gasket mating surfaces on the pipe flange and the cylinder block.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Install the oil level sensor, located in the oil pan, after the oil pan is installed. The sensor may be damaged if the OK level sensor is installed first.

1. Install the oil pump pipe and screen with a new gasket. Tighten the bolts to 11 Nm (98 inch lbs.).
2. Install the oil pan.
3. Install the oil level sensor.
