Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR)
Wiring Diagram:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
With the ignition key in the "OFF-UNLOCK" position, the "AIR BAG" indicator will be illuminated steady. When the ignition switch is first turned to "RUN," the "AIR BAG" fuse applies system voltage to the "Ignition 1" input, terminal "10." The SDM responds by commanding the instrument cluster, via serial data (CKT 800), to flash the "AIR BAG" indicator seven times. If serial data communication is lost between the SDM and the instrument cluster, the "AIR BAG" indicator will come "ON" steady with a DTC 61 set. If "Ignition 1" voltage to the SDM is outside the normal operating range, the "AIR BAG" indicator will come "ON" steady with no DTCs set.
DTC WILL SET WHEN:
The SDM receives an "AIR BAG" indicator fault message 5 consecutive times, via serial data, from the instrument cluster and the SDM has not received a request from the instrument cluster to communicate, via serial data, for 6 seconds.
ACTION TAKEN:
SDM attempts to turn ON" the "AIR BAG" indicator and sets a diagnostic trouble code.
DTC WILL CLEAR WHEN
The ignition switch is cycled.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Refer to "SIR Diagnostic System Check."
