Fuel Rail: Description and Operation
Fuel Rail:
DESCRIPTION
The fuel rail (1) is mounted to the top of the engine and distributes fuel to the individual injectors (4). Fuel is delivered to the fuel inlet tube of the fuel rail by the fuel pipes, goes through the rail, then to the pressure regulator (2). The regulator maintains a constant fuel pressure at the injectors. Remaining fuel is then returned to the tank. Fuel Pressure can be observed by using a fuel pressure gauge at the fuel pressure gauge connector (3).
