Push Rod: Service and Repair

VALVE ROCKER ARM AND PUSHROD

Remove or Disconnect






1. Rocker arm nuts.
^ Place valve train parts in a rack so that they can be installed in the same location which they were removed.
^ Intake pushrods measure 144.18 mm (5.68 inches). Exhaust pushrods measure 152.51 mm (6.0 inches).

2. Rocker arms.
3. Pushrods.

Important Use care when removing pushrods so they do not fall down into the lifter valley.

Install or Connect






Tool Required

^ J 36660 Torque Angle Meter

1. Lower intake manifold gaskets
2. Pushrods
^ Install pushrods in their original location.
^ Coat ends of pushrods with prelube GM P/N 1052365
^ Intake valve pushrods measure 144 mm (5.75 inches) long.
^ Exhaust valve pushrods measure 152.5 mm (6.0 inches) long.
3. Rocker arms
^ Install rocker arms in their original locations.
^ Coat rocker arm friction surfaces with prelube GM P/N 1052365
4. Rocker arm bolt

Tighten

^ Bolt to 14 N.m (124 lb.in.)
^ Turn bolt an additional 30°
