Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

To clear any Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) from the memory, either to determine if the malfunction will occur again or because repair has been completed a diagnostic scan too] may he used or the power feed must he disconnected for at least thirty (30) seconds.

Follow instructions supplied by tool manufacturer when clearing code with a diagnostic scan tool.

Depending on application the following methods may be used to clear DTC's:

^ Disconnect power source to Powertrain Control Module (PCM), fuse, pigtail at battery etc.
^ Disconnect negative battery cable. (The negative battery cable may be disconnected, but other on-board memory data, such as preset radio tuning, will also be lost.)


NOTICE: To prevent system damage, the key must be "OFF" when disconnecting or reconnecting power.
