Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS:
1. Check LO Beam Lamps and HI Beam Lamps for damage to the filament or bulb.

CAUTION: Halogen bulbs contain a gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal Injury:
^ Turn the Headlight Switch to "OFF" and allow bulb to cool before changing bulbs. Leave the Switch in the "OFF" position until bulb change is complete.
^ Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
^ Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
^ Do not drop or scratch the bulb. Keep moisture away.
^ Place the used bulb In the new bulb's carton and dispose of it properly. Keep halogen bulbs out of reach of children.

2. Check Fusible Link A for damage, refer to "Power Distribution," wiring schematic. If Fusible Link A is open, check for short to ground in CKT 2 or Headlamp Switch. Power and Ground Distribution
3. Check the LH and RH Headlamp connectors to be sure the connector seal is not damaged or missing.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (refer to "General Troubleshooting Procedures,"). Diagnostic Aids
