CAUTION:
To prevent possible interference, flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) must not be routed within 50 mm (2 in.) of moving parts, unless routing is positively controlled.

ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THROTTLE MODULATOR

Remove or Disconnect
1. Lower instrument panel trim attaching screws, retaining nut and lower instrument panel trim.
2. Accelerator cable from accelerator pedal.
3. Squeeze accelerator cable cover tangs and push cable through (lash panel (bulkhead).
4. Cover from throttle modulator.
5. Accelerator cable from throttle modulator.

Install or Connect
1. Accelerator cable through dash panel.
2. Accelerator cable to accelerator pedal.
3. Accelerator cable to throttle modulator upper cam.
4. Perform adjustment procedure. Adjustments
5. Throttle modulator cover.
6. Lower instrument panel trim.
7. Apply heavy bodied sealer around accelerator cable at engine compartment side of dash panel (bulkhead).

THROTTLE MODULATOR TO THROTTLE BODY

Remove or Disconnect
1. Cover from throttle modulator.
2. Accelerator cable from throttle modulator.
3. Accelerator cable retainer and accelerator cable from throttle body lever.
4. Slide accelerator cable out of accelerator cable bracket.

Install or Connect
1. Accelerator cable to throttle modulator lower cam.
^ The adjuster lever must be in the unlocked position before the accelerator cable is installed to the throttle body.
^ The accelerator cable must be routed under the brake booster vacuum hose.
2. Accelerator cable to throttle body lever.
3. Accelerator cable clip to accelerator cable bracket.
4. Perform adjustment procedure as outlined in this section.
5. Throttle modulator cover.

THROTTLE MODULATOR ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

Remove or Disconnect
1. Cover from throttle modulator.
2. Accelerator cables from throttle modulator cams.
3. Bolts attaching throttle modulator to throttle modular bracket.
4. Throttle modulator.

Install or Connect
1. Throttle modulator over stud on throttle modulator bracket.
2. Throttle modulator attaching bolts.

Tighten
Throttle modulator attaching bolts to 3.5 Nm (31 lb. in.).

3. Accelerator cables to throttle modulator cams.
4. Perform adjustment procedure. Adjustments
5. Throttle modulator cover.

ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND BRACKET ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

Remove or Disconnect
1. Lower instrument panel trim attaching screws, retaining nut and lower instrument panel trim.
2. Accelerator cable from accelerator pedal.
3. Accelerator pedal fasteners and accelerator pedal.

NOTICE:
The mounting surface between support and dash panel must be free of insulation. The carpet and padding in pedal and tunnel area must be positioned to lay flat and be free of wrinkles and bunches.

Install or Connect
1. Accelerator pedal with attaching fasteners.
2. Accelerator cable on accelerator pedal.

Inspect
Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating accelerator pedal. Also check for proper carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.

3. Lower instrument panel trim.

CRUISE CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT
1. Unlock cable conduit at accelerator cable bracket.
2. With the throttle closed, lock the cable conduit by pressing down on the cable lock.
^ When the cable is in the unlocked position, and the throttle is closed, the cable adjustment spring removes the appropriate amount of slack.
^ Cable lock must be fully extended to allow proper adjustment spring operation prior to locking.

ACCELERATOR CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT

NOTICE:
^ The cruise control cable must be adjusted prior to performing this procedure.
^ The accelerator control cable adjustment procedure must be followed each time the accelerator cable is disconnected from the throttle body and when any components in the remote progressive throttle system are replaced.

1. Lift the adjustment lever on the accelerator cable up to the unlocked position.
2. Hold the throttle in the closed position while pulling the cable conduit towards the throttle body to adjust the slack.
3. Push the adjustment lever down to the locked position.

Inspect
^ Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating accelerator pedal. Also check for proper carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.
^ Using a Tech 1, check throttle angle percentage by depressing the accelerator pedal. When the accelerator pedal is released, throttle opening should return to 0%. If proper results are not obtained, check modulator and cables for damage or kinks and repeat procedure.
