Windshield - Squeak at the Base

SUBJECT:
SQUEAK AT BASE OF WINDSHIELD
(REMOVE 4 mm OF MATERIAL FROM I/P)

MODEL:
1994 BUICK ROADMASTER

CONDITION:
Some owners may comment on a squeak at the base of the windshield.

CORRECTION:
Remove 4 mm of material from the I/P by using the following procedure:

1. Remove instrument panel pad. (Refer to Service Manual procedure.)





2. Carefully measure 4 mm from leading edge (next to windshield) and mark a line on the panel. (See Figure 1.)

3. Using a utility knife, cut on marked line through foam pad scoring the hard plastic substrate. Remove cut foam exposing scored line.

4. Using a saw type tool, cut along scored line.

5. Reinstall instrument panel pad and any other previously removed parts.
