Fig. 50 Pivot Pin Removal:






COLUMN HOUSING, LOCK SHOES, ACTUATOR SECTOR, SWITCH ACTUATOR RACK, BEARINGS & LOCK BOLT

DISASSEMBLE
1. Disassemble lock housing cover, cover end cap, pivot and pulse switch, dimmer switch rod actuator and tilt spring.
2. Using pivot pin removal tool No. J-21854-01, or equivalent, remove pivot pins, Fig. 50.
3. Install tilt lever.
4. Remove column housing assembly by pulling back on tilt lever and pulling housing down and away from column.
5. Remove driveshaft, then the switch actuator sector.
6. Remove switch actuator rack and rack preload spring, then the release lever pin and release lever.
7. Remove release lever spring, then the dowel pin.
8. Remove lock shoes and lock shoe springs, then the bearings.
9. Remove hex head bolt, then the lock bolt spring and lock bolt.

ASSEMBLE
1. Install bearings to column housing, then install driveshaft.
2. Install actuator sector, then the lock shoes.
3. Install dowel pin, then the lock shoe springs.
4. Install release lever spring, then the release lever.
5. Install release lever pin, then the rack preload spring.
6. Install switch actuator rack to actuator sector.
7. Install lock bolt and lock bolt spring, then the hex head bolt.
8. Install column housing assembly to column as follows:
a. Position column housing assembly and align switch actuator rack with pin on end of actuator rod.
b. Pull back on tilt lever, pushing column housing assembly onto column housing support assembly.
c. Release tilt lever to lock shoes.
9. Remove tilt lever.
10. Lubricate pivot pins with lithium grease, then install.
