Cylinder Head - Right Side
Cylinder Head Bolt Tightening Sequence:
1. Raise and support vehicle, then drain coolant into suitable container(s).
2. Remove serpentine drive belt and belt tensioner as outlined.
3. Disconnect transmission fluid level indicator tube bracket from transmission housing and rear of right cylinder head.
4. Remove air conditioning compressor rear brace bolt/screw from engine block, then disconnect compressor electrical connector.
5. Remove air conditioning compressor front mounting bolts/screws and position compressor aside.
6. Remove three-way catalytic converter and gasket from exhaust manifold, then lower vehicle.
7. Remove right exhaust manifold as outlined.
8. Remove generator.
9. Remove right rocker arm cover.
10. Remove intake manifold as outlined, then disconnect coolant air bleed pipe bolt/screw from both cylinder heads using a back up wrench on pipe fittings.
11. Disconnect radiator outlet hose and heater hoses from water pump and reposition.
12. Remove power steering pump as outlined.
13. Remove generator, power steering pump and air conditioning compressor bracket assembly.
14. Disconnect spark plug wiring harness from spark plugs, then remove spark plugs.
15. Remove rocker arms and pushrods.
16. Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor electrical connector on side of cylinder head.
17. Remove cylinder head bolts/screws, then cylinder head and gasket. Discard gasket.
18. Reverse procedure to install. Apply suitable sealer to cylinder head bolts and gradually tighten bolts to specifications, in sequence shown in Fig. 4.
