Tech 1: Audio Diagnosis

RADIO: Identify E & C Components:

The "Getting Started" information is provided here for convenience only.
1. The 88-93 body software cartridge (or mass storage cartridge #3000003) will contain the routines to accurately diagnose the E & C Data Link (Bus) and Audio System.
2. Make certain the Ignition is "OFF."
3. Plug the Tech 1 power cable into the vehicle's cigarette lighter.
4. Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) (bottom of I/P below the ashtray).

IMPORTANT: If your Tech 1 has a serial number ending in 000001 to 002000, you must attach the E & C Bus Adapter to the end of the Tech 1 cable. A Tech 1 with a serial number ending in 002001 or larger does not require the adapter. (These units have a backlight display.)

5. Insert the 12-pin plug on the Tech 1 cable or adapter (refer to NOTE) into the DLC Connector.
6. Turn Ignition to "RUN," turn Radio "ON."
7. Select E & C tests under the body option.
8. Select the Components Identification Test F1.
9. If after 3 seconds the Tech 1 has not received a response from either the Radio Control Head (and Cassette or Compact Disc) or the Radio Receiver or Tech 1 is unable to transmit a message on the Bus, one of the error messages will appear.
10. Verify that Tech 1 is properly connected.
