Test W EBCM/EBTCM Problem Test
W: EBCM/EBTCM Problem Test:
ABS/TCS:
OPERATION:
The BRAKE indicator illuminates to alert the driver to either a brake system condition, which reduces braking ability, or a park brake, which is not fully released. Specific conditions which cause the BRAKE indicator to illuminate include:
- Park brake not fully released. When park brake is applied or not fully released, the park brake switch grounds the BRAKE indicator, causing the indicator to light.
- Low brake fluid level. The brake fluid level switch in the master cylinder reservoir grounds the BRAKE indicator when low brake fluid is detected.
- Ignition switch in START or BULT TEST position.
IMPORTANT: A lit BRAKE indicator may indicate a hydraulic system fault, possibly causing reduced braking ability.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Open in CKT 33, 1150, or 353.
- Short to ground in CKT 33 or 353.
- Failed ignition switch.
- Failed/misadjusted park brake switch.
- Failed brake fluid level switch/master cylinder reservoir.
