Trunk / Liftgate Solenoid: Description and Operation

PULL-DOWN UNIT OPERATION
^ opening - when Luggage Compartment lid is opened, luggage compartment lid lock hook is unlatched from striker. Pull-down unit motor now grounds through pull-down unit luggage compartment lid open switch. The motor runs, driving striker to striker extended position, removing battery voltage from motor.

^ closing - when luggage compartment lid is lowered, luggage compartment lock hook latches striker, moving luggage compartment lid latch switch to latched position. Voltage is applied to pull-down unit motor in reverse direction, driving striker to striker down position, removing ground from motor.
