Fuel Tank Draining Procedure

CAUTION: Never drain or store fuel in an open container due to the possibility of fire or explosion.

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Loosen fuel filler cap.
3. Block front tires.
4. Raise rear of vehicle so that bottom of rear bumper is 71 cm (28") above ground.
5. Loosen fuel filler neck connecting hose clamp at tank.

Clean
- Clean fuel filler neck at tank and surrounding area before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.

6. Wrap a shop towel around fuel filter neck connecting hose and slowly remove fuel filler neck connecting hose from fuel tank.
7. Use a hand operated pump device to drain fuel.
8. Reconnect fuel filler neck connecting hose and clamp.
9. Lower vehicle.
10. Unblock front tires.
11. Reconnect negative battery cable and tighten fuel filler cap after required service(s) has been completed.
