EGR Valve: Service and Repair
EGR Valve Removal:
REMOVAL:
1. Remove EGR valve vacuum tube at valve.
2. Remove two base flange bolts and EGR.
3. EGR Valve from engine.
EGR Manifold Passage Inspection
^ If EGR passages in the inlet manifold indicate excessive build-up of deposits, the passages should be cleaned. Care should be taken to ensure that all loose particles are completely removed to prevent them from clogging the EGR valve or from being ingested into the engine.
^ Do not wash EGR valve in solvents or degreaser, permanent damage to valve diaphragm may result. Also, sandblasting of the valve is not recommended since this can affect the operation of the valve.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install EGR using new gasket.
2. Tighten the long bolt first to 15-30 N-m (11-22 lb. ft.).
3. Re-connect vacuum hose to valve.
