Basic Diagnostic Procedures


The diagnostic procedures used in this here are designed to aid in finding and repairing SIR problems. Outlined below are the steps to find and repair SIR problems quickly and effectively. Not carefully following these procedures may result in extended diagnostic time, Incorrect diagnosis and incorrect part replacements.

1. "PERFORM THE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK."
The "Diagnostic System Check" should be the starting point of any SIR diagnostics. The "Diagnostic System Check" checks for proper INFLATABLE RESTRAINT indicator operation and checks for SIR diagnostic trouble codes.

2. REFER TO THE PROPER DIAGNOSTIC CHART AS DIRECTED BY THE "DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK."
The "Diagnostic System Check" leads you to the correct chart to diagnose SIR problems. Bypassing these procedures may result in extended diagnostic time, incorrect diagnosis and incorrect part replacements.

3. REPEAT THE "DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK" AFTER ANY REPAIR OR DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN PERFORMED.
Performing the "Diagnostic System Check" after all repair or diagnostic procedures assures that the repair has been made correctly and that no other conditions exist.
