Test K: Coolant Temperature Gage Is Not Accurate
Disconnect the Coolant Temperature Sender connector. Connect one red clip lead of the J 33431-B tester to the harness connector DK GRN (35) wire, and the other red clip lead to ground. Turn the Ignition Switch to RUN. Adjust the resistance dials of the tester to 1365 ohms and then to 55 ohms. The Coolant Temperature Gauge should register 100°F (37°C) then 260°F (125°C).
^ If the gage reads correctly, the wiring and gauge are good. Check for a poor connection. If OK, replace the Coolant Temperature Sender.
^ If the gage is not correct, check the DK GRN (35) wire for high resistance. If the wire is OK, service the Auxiliary Gages Assembly.
