SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE - SECTION 6E3-C8-10 DRIVEABILITY EMISSIONS -TCC OPERATION

MODELS AFFECTED:
1989 REGALS WITH 3.1L (VIN CODE T)


This bulletin has been revised to include a reference to Buick bulletin 89-6E-7 in paragraph one.

On page 6E3-C8-10 of the 1989 Chassis Service Manual for the Regal model and in Buick bulletin 89-6E-7 in Chart C-8C (page I of 3) 440-T4 Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) with Torque Management - 3.1L (VIN T) Regal Carline (Port) is the following statement:

"The TCC will engage on a warm engine under given road load in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears."

It should read as follows:

"The TCC will engage on a warm engine under given road load in 3rd and 4th gear."

Calibration for the 3.1L engine with a 440-T4/Hydra-matic 4T60 transaxle does not engage the TCC in second gear.

Please make this correction in your 1989 Chassis Service Manual for the Regal model and in Chart C-8C (page 1 of 3) 3.1L (VIN T) of Buick bulletin 89-6E-7.
