SUBJECT: SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE - SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM OPERATION
MODELS AFFECTED: 1988-89 REGALS
SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE
The following information is to replace the text concerning safety belt warning system operation in paragraphs 2 and 3 of Restraint System (Page 10-10-1) of the 1989 Regal Service Manual.
"The driver's safety belt system includes a reminder lamp and tone alarm to warn the driver that the safety belt is not buckled. If the driver's safety belt is not buckled when the ignition is turned on, the tone alarm will operate for 4 to 8 seconds, and the reminder lamp will remain lit.
If the driver's safety belt is buckled when the ignition is turned on, neither the tone alarm nor reminder lamps will operate."
To diagnose a condition involving the tone alarm reminder light, refer to the attached revision of page 76-2 of Section 8A-76-2 of your 1988 and 1989 Service Manuals.
