Throttle Body Assembly

Cleaning on the Car
The throttle bore and valve deposits may be cleaned on-vehicle, using carburetor cleaner and a parts cleaning brush. Do Not use a cleaner that contains methyl ethyl ketone, an extremely strong solvent, and not necessary for this type of deposit.

CAUTION: The throttle body should not be soaked in an immersion-type cleaner, loss of factory installed lubricant could result.
The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve should "NOT" come in contact with solvent or cleaner as they may be damaged.

Model B115 Throttle Body Assembly:

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Partially drain the radiator to allow the coolant hoses at throttle body to be removed.
3. Remove the air inlet duct.
4. Disconnect the IAC valve and TPS electrical connectors.
5. Disconnect the vacuum harness connector.
6. Disconnect the coolant hoses at the throttle body.
7. Disconnect the throttle, Transmission control, and cruise control cables.
8. Remove the throttle body retaining bolts and the throttle body assembly.
9. Remove the flange gasket and discard. Clean the gasket surfaces.

CAUTION: Use care in cleaning old gasket material from the machined aluminum surfaces. Sharp tools may damage the sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the new flange gasket and the throttle body assembly.
2. Install the throttle body retaining bolts and torque to 25 Nm (18 lb ft.).
3. Connect the throttle, transmission control, and cruise control cables.
4. Connect the coolant hoses to the throttle body and vacuum harness connector.
5. Connect the IAC valve and TPS electrical connectors.
6. Install the air inlet duct.
7. Refill the radiator to replace lost coolant.
8. Connect the negative battery terminal.

NOTES: Be sure the control cables do not hold the throttle open and check to see that the accelerator pedal is free by depressing the pedal to the floor and releasing with the engine "OFF".

ADJUSTMENT
The minimum throttle valve position adjustment and the Idle Learn Procedures are critical to component durability and performance and should be preformed after installing a replacement throttle body.
