DCS NO. 87-14 GROUP NO. 6 April 6, 1987
SUBJECT: LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WARNING CAMPAIGN 87-C-3

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 RIVIERA

TO: ALL BUICK DEALERS
ATTENTION: SERVICE MANAGERS BE SURE TO REVIEW THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL

General Motors has determined that certain 1987 Buick Rivieras were produced with a low engine oil pressure warning system that could malfunction, resulting in an erroneous low engine oil pressure warning to the vehicle driver.

To prevent the possibility of this condition occurring, installation of a new EPROM in the Body Computer Module (BCM) is required.

VEHICLES INVOLVED

Certain 1987 Rivieras within the following vehicle breakpoints:

Series Plant From Through & Including

Riviera Hamtramck HU400001 HU406896

Involved vehicles have been identified by Vehicle Identification Number computer listings. Dealer bulletin will be mailed starting April 6, 1987.

PARTS INFORMATION

Each vehicle involved requires replacement of the BCM EPROM with Part Number 16075601, broadcast code AFUL.

Any dealer stock of 16075601, on hand, should be checked to verify correct EPROM, by checking for broadcast code AFUL on the back of the EPROM. Installation of the wrong EPROM will cause the instrument panel cluster to go blank and the graphic control center to display only the radio page.

If EPROM code is not AFUL, contact your local GMSPO Parts Distribution Center for disposition.
