Code B667 - Cruise - Set/Coast Or Resume/Accel Switch Shorted:

Wiring Diagram for Codes B663, B667, B671, B672 & B673:

CODE B667 - SET/COAST OR RESUME/ACCEL SWITCH SHORTED

Circuit Description:

When the cruise control ON/OFF switch and ignition are "ON", system voltage is available at one side of the normally open contacts on the Set/Coast and Resume/Accel switches. If the Set/Coast or the Resume/Accel switches were stuck, or their signal wires to the BCM were shorted to voltage, the vehicle could begin cruise operation. To prevent this, Code B667 will set and disable cruise control, if signal voltage from the Set/Coast (CKT 84) or Resume/Accel (CKT 87) is HI when the cruise control ON/OFF switch is turned from "OFF" to "ON", or when the ignition key is turned on and the cruise control ON/OFF switch was left "ON". Cruise control will be disabled until the BCM sees a LO on both of these signals.

Test Description:

1. BCM inputs BI76 and BI77 display Set/Coast and Resume/Accel switch status as HI or LO depending on the voltage state at the BCM. If one of these inputs stays HI when the switches are cycled, (in free state) that particular switch or signal wire is shorted to voltage.

2. Checks to see if short circuit reading is due to switch or circuit.

Note on Intermittents:

If an intermittent Code B667 is being set, manipulate the related wiring while observing BCM inputs BI76 and BI77. If the failure is induced the reading will jump from LO to HI with the switch off (not depressed). This code can also be set by the operator if the cruise ON/OFF switch is turned "ON", or the ON/OFF switch was left on when the ignition key is turned on and the operator was depressing either the Set/Coast or Resume/Accel switches.
