SUBJECT
DSC Diagnosis not Possible

MODEL
E46 (3 Series) All Wheel Drive (325xi, 330xi)

SITUATION
DSC Stability Control DSC5.7 is installed in E46 325xi and 330xi all wheel drive vehicles. When using DIS, or MoDiC to diagnose the DSC system, the message "Unknown control unit variant, fault number 200.102" is displayed. No further diagnosis is possible.

CAUSE
Error in DIS software CD 25.0 and CD25.1

PROCEDURE

-- Manually identify the vehicle as an X5.

-- Select X5_4.4i_M62 / TU_OFFRD/USA_LHD /2000_9

-- At the "Quick test" screen, run the "Quick Test" for DSC.

-- When the message: "Unknown control unit variant, fault number 200.102" is shown, press OK.

-- A second message: "Control unit cannot be detected, do you still want to enter it?", - Answer "OK"

-- Forward to the next screen, then select "Function Selection / Complete vehicle / Chassis / Stability Control

-- Continue with DSC diagnosis in the regular way
