Initial Installation of Hardtop

MODEL:
Z8-E52

Situation:
Because of a delay in the delivery of hardtops for the Z8, early production cars will be delivered with out the hardtop, and the hardtops will be supplied when they become available. The initial installation on cars that were delivered without the hardtops will require adjusting the top for proper fit. This will not be required on later cars that come from the factory with the hardtop installed, as those cars will have the tops adjusted at the factory.

Procedure:
When doing an initial installation, perform the following steps:





Tighten fasteners 1, 2, and 3 to 20 Nm.

Install top on car, and fasten to windshield frame and B pillar with wrench provided in hardtop.





Check fit of top to body. There should be an even gap along the edge.

Note:
To set the vertical adjustment, the hardtop must be removed as the adjustment points are not accessible when installed.





Check the fit of the door window seals, and perform a water leak check.
