E53 X5 4.4i Selector Switch FC 60/FC114

MODEL
E53 X5 4.4i with ZF 5HP24 automatic transmission

SITUATION

The customer may complain of the following:

-- "Transmission Failsafe" message is displayed in the instrument cluster; or

-- Transmission does not "up-shift"; or Engine does not "crank" or "no start"

FC 60 and / or FC114 (Steptronic: Intermediate setting) will be stored in the EGS/TCM fault memory.

CAUSE

The selector position switch (located on the passenger side of the transmission).

CORRECTION

On a customer complaint basis only:

1. Print the EGS test code

2. Replace the transmission selector switch located on the passenger side of the transmission. Refer to repair instruction 24 10 003.
