Rear Subframe: Service and Repair







Removing and Installing Complete Rear Axle Carrier/ Rear Crossmember

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

- Remove wheels, please refer to: Removing or Installing Front or Rear Wheel

- Remove propeller shaft, please refer to: Service and Repair

- Remove left and right brake calipers and tie up on body, please refer to: Service and Repair

- Remove left/right ABS impulse sensors, please refer to: Service and Repair

- Remove handbrake Bowden cables from handbeak lever, please refer to: Service and Repair

- Remove heat shield above propeller shaft.

- If necessary, remove connector from ride height sensor, please refer to: Service and Repair





Support final drive with workshop hoist 00 2 030 and special tool 33 4 390.





Rework special tool in accordance with drawing if necessary.

Cut (1) should be performed on both feet and cut (2) should only be performed on the fixed foot.





Remove left and right trim panels.

Unfasten left and right shock absorbers from wheel carrier.

Installation:



Insert bush (1) in the bore on the wheel carrier.



Tightening Torque.





Remove rear axle carrier from body by unfastening bolts (1) at left and right and lowering rear axle.

Installation:
The rubber-coated detent plate (2) must be installed at the rear in the driving direction.



Tightening Torque.
