Compressor/Pump: Testing and Inspection

Checking function of level control pump
Check oil level.
After completion of function check, oil level must be checked once again.
Remove splash guard.





Unfasten line (3) to control valve on the power steering pump.

Installation:
Replace gaskets. Tightening torque, refer to Steering; Specifications.





Prepare special tool 32 4 000 or 54 3 100.
1 = Pump connection
2 = Connection for line to control valve





Attach special tool 37 2 021 / 022 and install between pump and line.





Caution! Non-return valve (A) must be closed for high pressure measurements -damage to pressure gauge. A = non-return valve - low pressure 0 ... 15 bar - closed B = non-return valve - high pressure 0 ... 150 bar - open

Unfasten control rod joint from lever on control valve.
Start engine.
Move lever on control valve in forwards direction of travel tail of vehicle lifts.
Read off pressure. Nominal value, max. bar, refer to Specifications.

a) move into center position
b) move in reverse direction of travel and read off pressure in each case. Nominal value, min. bar, refer to Technical Data.
