Replacing All Left Ignition Leads (M73)




Replacing All Left Ignition Leads (M73)

Switch off ignition







Open clips (1).
Unfasten hose clip (2).
Disconnect plug-in connection (3)
Remove upper section of suction filter housing with mass air flow sensor.







Up to 1997 model:
Designate plug connections on tank vent valve and cut through.







Up to 1997 model:
Open quick release connections on hoses for tank vent valve.
Press down interlock (1) and remove hose (2). Remove both tank vent valves from bracket.







From model year 1998:
Mark plug connectors (1 and 2) and pull off.







From model year 1998:
Remove plug connector (1), hose clip (2) and air hose (3) and remove air-mass sensor with upper section of intake filter.







From model year 1998:
Unclip air hoses (1 and 2) from bracket (3).







From model year 1998:
Disconnect plug connector (1) from solenoid valve.







From model year 1998:
If necessary, release cable ties (1) and disconnect plug connector (2) from alternator.







From model year 1998:
Unfasten cable connector (1).







From model year 1998:
Disconnect plug connector (1) and pull solenoid valve (2) out of bracket.







From model year 1998:
Lay solenoid valve (1) and air hose (2) below engine.







Unfasten screw connection of ignition wiring harness on manifold.
Remove spark-plug connectors.







Unfasten cable connector on protective cap of distributor cap.
Unfasten clips (1 to 3) and remove protective cap for distributor cap.







Note sequence of ignition leads on the distributor cap and remove the distributor cap.

Installation:
When fitting ignition leads, note firing order.

Firing order, refer to Technical Data.
