Right Front Door does not Lock from Central Locking Button
MODEL:
5 Series (E39), 7 Series (E38)

Situation:
The right front door sporadically does not lock when the Central Locking Button is pressed.
Cause:
This complaint can arise due to the customer pressing the Central Locking Button (to lock all doors) while the RH Mirror is moving downward (tilt feature during Reverse Gear Selection). If the mirror is still moving, the right front door does not lock. This is caused by the structure of the task priorities in the door modules, and was corrected in series production as of week 20197, by the new right side door module (PM-BT) with the Software Status 9 (SW 09).
*Correction:
On a customer complaint basis only, replace the right front door module (PM-BT) with an improved version incorporating Software 09. Refer to the repair instructions 51 41 000 for the complete procedure for the applicable model.
The improved module can be identified by checking the software version on the label.*

Part must be order through the Direct Shipment Program (phone # : 800-428-8806). Software version of the module must be specified (5W 09), and a VIN number of a vehicle has to be submitted.
