No Start Testing

TEST PROCEDURE
Requirements:
- Starting system okay (battery charged, ignition switch and starter okay, etc.)
- Ground connections on battery, engine and body okay.
- Specified gasoline in tank.
- Engine in perfect operating condition (timing, compression, etc.)

Review the BASICS. Checking the Basics

a. Check power supply for Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit according to wiring diagram.

b. Measure input signals.
- Speed signal from crankshaft sensor (inductive pulse sender) at starting speed.
- Air flow sensor signals.

c. Measure output signals.
- Activation of fuel pump relay according to wiring diagram.
- Ignition final stage.
- Fuel injectors.

d. Test fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction, Testing and Inspection

Refer to appropriate component tests. Also use Status Monitoring and oscilloscope tests where possible.
