SITUATION:
A copy of the 1995 850Ci/850CSi combined Service/Warranty Information booklet, together with a copy of this Service Information bulletin will be sent under separate cover to every automotive BMW Dealer addressed to the attention of the Sales Manager and Service Manager. Please review this booklet and become familiar with the service, maintenance and warranty coverage information.
The following important changes for the 1995 Model Year should be noted:
The Federal Emissions Warranty period for all emissions-related parts will be reduced to 2 years/24,000 miles, whichever occurs first, with the exception of certain specific major emission control components for which the warranty period will be 8 years/80,000 miles, whichever occurs first This change was mandated by the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. The New Vehicle Limited Warranty will still provide coverage for a period of 4 years/50,000 miles whichever occurs first.
^ The California Emissions Control System Limited Warranty applies to all 1995 U.S. specification BMW vehicles sold, leased and/or registered and repaired in California or Massachusetts.
^ The warranty period for all light bulbs is 4 years/50,000 miles whichever occurs first.
Warranty information must be readily available to the consumer before a purchase is made. Moreover, a Service/Warranty Information booklet must be given to the consumer with an explanation of it at the time of vehicle delivery. Every vehicle shipped from the BMW Import Processing Centers will have the Service/Warranty Information booklet in the glove box. If a vehicle is received without a Service/Warranty Information booklet, please order the required booklets following the procedure outlined below.
