Housing Assembly

IHKA E31 HOUSING ASSEMBLY

The E31 housing assembly is mounted behind the center of the instrument panel, and contains the same components as the E32 housing assembly (except for the console rear outlet stepper motor and flap).

While E31 vehicles were fitted with micro filters from the start of production (05/90), the filter is not inside the housing assembly.


For reference, the components mounted inside or on the housing assembly are:

- Blower motor
- IHKA control module
- Final stage unit
- Evaporator core
- Expansion block-valve
- Evaporator temperature sensor
- Heater cores
- Heater core temperature sensors, left and right
- Footwell flap stepper motors and flaps, left and right
- Mixing flap stepper motors and flaps, left and right
- Face vent flap stepper motors and flaps, left and right
- Defroster flaps stepper motor and flaps
- Fresh air flaps stepper motor and flaps
- Recirculating air flaps stepper motor and flaps
