Central Locking System Terminology




CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM TERMINOLOGY

Terminology for the locking system has changed through the model years. Use the following as a guide for determining terminology.

"Single lock", "Central lock": (same meaning). Vehicle is locked via the lock button, the console mounted central lock button (>12-95 prod) or the key is turned to the lock position (45°) at the doors or trunk on vehicles produced up to 1-94. This is known as single lock.

"Double lock", "Central arrest" (same meaning). Vehicle has been locked with the key at the driver's or passenger's door to the 90° double lock position (up to 1-94 prod) or to the 45° lock position at the doors and trunk on vehicles after 1-94 (double lock key position deleted ). This is known as double lock.
