Parking Lock Emergency Release, Operating and Checking

• It is necessary to check the emergency release after performing any work on it or after removing and installing the transmission.

Releasing

The vehicle could start to roll and cause an accident.

• Press the button on the parking brake to activate it.

- Remove the floor mat.

- Pry off the cover - 1 - for the emergency release and remove it - arrows -.






- Pull the strap in direction of - arrow - until the release lever engages.






- Fold back the upper section of the release lever - arrow - to prevent damaging the emergency release.






• If the parking lock is in emergency released, a "yellow gear wheel" indicator lamp in the instrument clusters and the N will blink.

• Danger of rolling away!, P not possible. Set parking brake.

Resetting the Unlock

- Fold back the upper section of the release lever.

- Operate the unlocking lever and push down the release lever into its starting position - arrow - until it audible engages.

- Install the cover.






• P will appear in the instrument cluster and on the selector lever transmission range position display unit (Y26) when the parking lock is engage.
