Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair






Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

For the installation position of the engine coolant temperature sensor (G62) refer to => [ Upper Engine Oil Cooler, Oil Check Valves and Spray Nozzle Valve Assembly Overview ] Upper Engine Oil Cooler, Oil Check Valves and Spray Nozzle Valve Assembly Overview.

Removing

Engine cold.

- Install protective body covers. Refer to => [ Protective Body Covers, Installing ] Procedures.

CAUTION!
The vehicle could overheat if the cap is installed incorrectly.

The cap must engage noticeably when sealing.

- Quickly open the coolant reservoir cap and release any remaining pressure in the cooling system and then close it again.

- Remove the upper section of the intake manifold.





- Disconnect the connector - 2 -.





- Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor - 1 -.

Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Upper Engine Oil Cooler, Oil Check Valves and Spray Nozzle Valve Assembly Overview ] Upper Engine Oil Cooler, Oil Check Valves and Spray Nozzle Valve Assembly Overview.

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace O-ring.

To prevent any coolant from running out of the hole, install the new engine coolant temperature sensor immediately.

- Install the upper section of the intake manifold.

- Check coolant level => [ Check coolant level. ] Procedures.
