Exhaust Flap Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)
Procedure
- Install protective body covers. Refer to => [ Protective Body Covers, Installing ] Procedures.
R8 Coupe:
- Remove the right engine compartment trim - 3 -.
- Remove the vacuum hose - 1 - to the left - 3 - and right exhaust flap vacuum actuators from the T-connector - 2 -.
- Connect the (VAS 6213) to the affected vacuum hose.
R8 Spyder:
- Remove right rear wheel housing liner.
- Remove the vacuum hose - 1 - to the left - 3 - and right exhaust flap vacuum actuators from the T-connector - 2 -.
- Connect the (VAS 6213) to the affected vacuum hose.
All Vehicles:
- Run the hand vacuum pump to generate a vacuum.
• The linkage must move into the vacuum diaphragm - arrow -.
- Vent hand vacuum pump.
• The linkage must move out of the vacuum diaphragm - arrow -.
- If the linkage does not move, check the linkage to make sure it is not stuck and check the vacuum diaphragm for leaks.
Assembly is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
- Install the engine compartment trim.
- Install the rear wheel housing liner.
